Another network is ready to have a go at the classic fairy tale "Beauty and the Beast," which has already been a live-action cult favorite on CBS,  Deadline.com reports.

ABC has a version of “Beauty and the Beast” in development, the story reports. Like CBS’s modernized version from the late 1980s, which starred Ron Perlman and Linda Hamilton, the ABC series will be live-action. But it will reportedly stay closer to the original fairy tale setting — perhaps closer to Disney’s Oscar-winning animated hit musical version from 1991.

"Jericho" co-creator Jonathan E. Steinberg is developing the epic fantasy, and will executive produce with Gary Fleder and Mary Beth Basile.

ABC already has a fairy tale-themed show lined up for fall. “Once Upon a Time” is set to premiere Oct. 23, as previously reported.
