ABC has announced plans for another big newsmaker interview, continuing what has been a winning streak for the network. “ABC World News” anchor Diane Sawyer will interview Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, along with her husband, Space Shuttle Commander Mark Kelly, during a special set to air Nov. 14.

The interview marks the first such appearance by Giffords since she was seriously wounded in a shooting in Tucson, Ariz., on Jan. 8, 2011. The telecast takes place as the memoit “Gabby: A Story of Courage and Hope,” by Giffords and Kelly, co-written by Jeffrey Zaslow, is being published.

The network and Sawyer have been on a roll landing top newsmakers for sitdowns. Recent high-profile interviews have included “the combative and controversial Donald Rumsfeld speaking exclusively to Sawyer in his first interview since leaving the Bush administration,” and the “story of Jaycee Dugard, which captured the hearts and minds of over 15 million viewers in July 2011,” the network said in a statement. “Additionally, Sawyer brings viewers an exclusive look inside the oral history audio recordings, a time capsule of historical memories, left behind by former first lady Jacqueline Kennedy on September 13.”

  1. Diane,
I am happy you are reviewing products made in America.
We have to reverse the mistakes of the Clinton era and put people back to work.
With corporations it is the bottome line and Bill Clinton gave American manufacturers incentives to build factories in China and tax breaks on the products plus exemptions.
We need to do stop those and do the same for American manufacturers.
All companies selling products here should be taxed the same as American companies on products sold here.
Then we can level the playing field.
Wal-Mart and others need to have tax breas to buy american.
I sold to the Sam Walto Wal-mart and it is not the same as the one that developed during the Clinton years.
