Actor Anthony Michael Hall, the star of USA’s "The Dead Zone" and 1980s films such as "Sixteen Candles," was released from police custody early Tuesday after he was booked on misdemeanor charges of disturbing the peace, reports the Los Angeles Times’ L.A. Now blog.

Hall allegedly tore up plants in a common area of his Venice condo complex, and when a neighbor heard the noise and came out to ask Hall what he was doing, the actor reportedly threatened to "beat him to a pulp," the story says.

Hall later allegedly knocked on the man’s front door and told him to come outside to fight, the story says. The man called police and Hall was reportedly taken into custody without incident.
