Fox has purchased a comedy project from a former "Seinfeld" writer-producer that’s based on the real-life story of Whitey Bulger, the alleged longtime fugitive gangster who was apprehended in June by the FBI, reports TheWrap.com.
The project is from Peter Mehlman. Bulger, 82, was found living in Santa Monica, Calif., after a decades-long manhunt, the story notes.
"I can’t imagine how many times I walked past him," Mehlman said, according to the story. "They had a dog and walked it in Palisades Park. I walked [my dog] Izzy there every night at sunset. I probably saw him 50 times — and he has 19 murders under his belt, allegedly."
The project is about a young couple whose next-door neighbor is a murderer, the story says.
