It turns out that the so-called “Slutty Pumpkin” — first mentioned years ago on CBS’s hit sitcom “How I Met Your Mother” — is the better half of one of Hollywood’s headline-grabbing power couples, former TVWeek staffer Joe Adalian writes in New York Magazine.
Actress Katie Holmes, well known from her years as Joey on "Dawson’s Creek" but even better known as wife and couch-jumping inspiration to Tom Cruise, will turn in a guest appearance next month on the show’s Halloween episode. It will reportedly be revealed in the episode that she was the woman involved in a liaison with Ted (Josh Radnor) that was mentioned way back in the show’s first season.
The story goes that Ted never saw her without her mask and never found out who she was.
According to co-creator Craig Thomas, this role was six years in the making. Thomas told the publication: "Katie is a lovely and talented actress, which is why we’ve saved for her perhaps the most classily named character in our show’s history."
