Lifetime Cancels Drama Series

Lifetime has decided not to order a new season of one of its series, Deadline.com reports. The show is the freshman drama “The Protector,” which stars Ally Walker as a single mother who is also a Los Angeles Police Department homicide detective.

The series got off to a slow start in June with 1.9 million viewers for its debut, the story says, and then failed to pick up momentum.

"The Protector" was one of Lifetime’s two new drama series this summer. The other series, "Against the Wall," is still airing its first season, the piece adds.
