Mediacom Chairman Has Harsh Words for FCC on Retrans Reform

Mediacom Chairman Rocco Commisso is scolding the Federal Communications Commission over what he says is a failure to push hard enough for new retransmission rules, reports TheWrap.com.

In a letter to FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski, Commisso writes that he had expected the FCC to work harder for new rules governing retransmission negotiations between television networks and cable providers, the story says.

The letter comes after talks between Mediacom and LIN Media broke down on Wednesday, leading to the blackouts of several LIN-owned stations in the South and Midwest, as previously reported.

“I am deeply disappointed with the Commission’s lack of interest in keeping multichannel television service affordable,” Commisso wrote.
