“Dateline NBC” will have a new host when it kicks off its 20th season later this week, the AP reports. Taking over the spot vacated by Ann Curry will be Lester Holt, the story reports.

Holt will also reportedly keep his co-anchor gig on “Weekend Today.” Curry has moved on to co-anchor the first half of NBC’s weekday morning show “Today,” where she works alongside Matt Lauer.

The new season of “Dateline” bows this Friday, Sept. 23.

David Corvo, senior executive producer in charge of NBC’s newsmagazines, said of Holt, "He’s a terrific anchor, he’s an excellent reporter and a great team leader — all the things you need to do to run a show."

Holt will be reporting as well as anchoring on "Dateline." He reportedly is eager to try his hand at longer-form journalism on the newsmagazine.
