One of the cast members and behind-the-scenes people on NBC’s "The Office" has signed to remain with the sitcom, with a promotion to executive producer, reports TVLine.com.

Mindy Kaling, best known as Kelly on the show, inked a one-year deal that encompasses acting, writing and producing on the comedy. Kaling had been haggling with the production company for a while about her role in the upcoming eighth season.

Kaling joined the show as a producer and was upped to co-exec producer in 2008.
