Showtime is taking a page from the CW and Fox and putting a drama pilot online before the show debuts on television, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The pilot for "Homeland" will air on Showtime’s website before its Oct. 2 television debut, the story says. The move is designed to draw non-subscribers to the program.

"Homeland" stars Claire Danes as a CIA officer who is convinced a returning American soldier who had been taken prisoner in Iraq has ties to an Al Qaeda plot, the story says.
