Showtime has announced that it is bringing back a dramedy series for another season, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Cancer-themed “The Big C” will return for season three.

The channel has 10 new episodes in the works, with a premiere targeted for the second quarter of 2012. The series stars Laura Linney as cancer patient Cathy Jamison, and is written and created by Darlene Hunt. The Sony Pictures Television show wraps up season two Sept. 26.

Showrunner Jenny Bicks told the publication: “We love working together and we’re excited to keep exploring where Cathy’s going. … As many shows do, we’ve all become a family, and it’s a terrific place to be, so we’re excited to keep going for as long as Cathy can keep going.”
