Simon Cowell’s Syco production company and ITV Studios are pitching a game show to U.S. networks — a version of the U.K. game show "Red or Black," which is more or less a roulette game with elaborate challenges built in, reports Joe Adalian in New York Magazine’s Vulture blog.

Contestants try to win $1 million by predicting the outcome of the challenges, the story says. In Britain, the show started off well, with nearly 30% of the U.K. audience watching the program during its first two episodes. But the show dropped off and lost almost half its viewership by the end of its run, the story says.

There was also a controversy with the show’s winner, who turned out to have a criminal background, as previously reported.

U.S. networks are said to be seriously considering purchasing the format, the story says.
