There’s a New Online Network, and You’ll Never Guess Its Name … OK, Maybe You Will

A new online network that has been in the works for months — known mainly as the place where a couple of canceled ABC soap operas are headed — now has a name, Deadline.com reports.

The name: The Online Network.

That’s what it’s being called by Prospect Park, the company that licensed the rights to ABC’s canceled “All My Children” and “One Life to Live.”

Prospect Park began signing actors earlier this month as it prepares to continue the soap operas online, as previously reported.

The plan is for both soaps to be broadcast on the Web starting in January 2012 on The Online Network. In addition, the network will reportedly have other first-run entertainment and additional programming, with more announcements expected in the months ahead.

  1. The irony here is that by providing the rights to the online world for these shows, the Networks are driving another group of people to the internet. There they will find that many shows they will enjoy are available at times more convenient to them. And they will spend less time watching Network TV.
