The cause of death of "Taxi" star Jeff Conaway has been determined by an autopsy, reports the Associated Press.

Conaway’s death was accidental and was caused by major internal infection, the story says, citing Los Angeles County coroner Craig Harvey.

A toxicology test wasn’t done because Conaway had been in the hospital for weeks before his death, meaning his blood would have been clean, the piece adds. Harvey noted that when Conaway entered the hospital on May 10, he had opiates and other drugs in his system.

Conaway died on May 27.
