‘Glee’ Story Line Prompts Petition Drive

A recent story line on Fox’s “Glee” has angered at least one viewer and sparked a petition drive to convince the show’s producer to create a public service announcement, the Los Angeles Times’ Show Tracker blog reports.

An adoptive mother, angered by the show’s recent adoption-based plot line, started a petition asking for a PSA that would counter what she claims are "harmful" inaccuracies, the story reports.

The woman, Amber Austin, said she created the online petition, which is available at Change.org, because of the story line surrounding Quinn, the piece notes. According to the petition, Quinn is "actively (and with malice)" trying to get back the baby she had earlier put up for adoption, the story says.

Austin is concerned that the plot raises fears for adopted children that they might be taken away from their families, and that it perpetuates the myth that a birth mother can take back a child or return into the kid’s life, the piece adds. She’s requesting that "Glee" co-creator Ryan Murphy create a PSA that would show the reality of adoption, the story says.

Fox and "Glee" producers weren’t immediately available for comment, the piece adds.
