AMC had a huge viewer turnout for Sunday’s season premiere of a drama series that was one of the cable network’s surprise hits of the past year, the San Jose Mercury News reports.
“The Walking Dead” pulled in 7.3 million viewers for the premiere telecast, AMC said. With a total of three airings on the night, the total climbed to 11 million. The turnout topped last year’s series premiere, the story reports.
The zombie show has been a surprise hit for AMC, averaging 5.2 million viewers during its freshman season.
