Music Legend Denies He Was Asleep During Live TV Interview, Says He Was Meditating; Here’s the Video

A legendary singer is denying reports that he was asleep while he was supposed to be doing a live television interview, Time.com reports.

Harry Belafonte denied that he fell asleep while waiting for a live television interview with a Bakersfield, Calif., TV station, the story reports.

When a local news anchor greeted Belafonte via satellite, the 84-year-old singer of "Day-O" appeared with his eyes closed and didn’t respond to her calls of "Wake up!" the story notes.

Belafonte’s representative denied he was asleep, however, and said he was meditating. Because of a technical glitch he couldn’t hear the anchor in his earpiece, the story says.

Belafonte has been promoting his HBO documentary "Sing Your Song," a memoir and CD, the story notes.
