Report: Steve Jobs Planned to Revolutionize TV as He Did Other Media

Steve Jobs wanted to revolutionize television sets, making them simple and elegant along the lines of what he did for computers and music players, The Washington Post reports, citing Walter Isaacson’s new biography.

According to the report, Isaacson writes in the book: “‘I’d like to create an integrated television set that is completely easy to use,’ [Jobs] told me. ‘It would be seamlessly synced with all of your devices and with iCloud.’ No longer would users have to fiddle with complex remotes for DVD players and cable channels. ‘It will have the simplest user interface you could imagine. I finally cracked it.’"

Rumors have persisted for months that Apple plans to debut branded TV sets, although it’s not clear exactly what Jobs had in mind, the story says.

  1. I have AppleTV and love it – but if my iPad were the size of a TV and I could access live network/cable programming via cable or internet with it, I would be in TV heaven…
