"Star Trek"-stye speech recognition is expected in Apple’s new iPhone, which will be unveiled later today, reports Bloomberg.

New voice commands will let people send texts or emails and surf the Web, the story says, citing Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster. Apple already uses voice controls on the iPhone for placing calls or playing a song, the piece adds.

The new iPhone will also have other new features, which may include a better camera and a stronger processor, the story says.

  1. This could have been titled Android-Style Speech Recognition Expected in Apple’s New iPhone” because Android has had that for a while now.
Not that I’m an Apple hater (well, maybe).
C’mon though…you know if it was the other way around, everyone would say “They’re just copying the iPhone!”
Seeing Apple introduce everyday stuff in their products and then present it as if they have invented a way to travel through time….well, it gets old.
