In a move designed to take advantage of tax breaks, NBC Sports will move from its headquarters in New York City, the Associated Press reports. The operation will be relocated in Stamford, Conn., according to the story.

The move comes as Stamford is trying to lure more entertainment companies to the city, located 35 miles from Manhattan, following a push that drew financial services companies during the 1980s and 1990s, the story notes.

Stamford has had some success already, drawing Maury Povich’s "Maury" in 2009 and two other NBCUniversal shows, "The Jerry Springer Show" and "The Steve Wilkos Show," the piece notes.

Representatives for NBC Sports and Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy declined to comment, the story says.
