A television news crew from WNYW-TV, a Fox station, was hit by pepper spray and a baton wielded by New York Police Department officers while covering the Occupy Wall Street protests Wednesday, reports My Fox New York.

Officers were hitting protesters with batons and spraying them with mace, according to the story. At one point, station reporter Dick Brennan was hit in the stomach by a baton and photographer Roy Isen was sprayed with pepper spray in his eyes, the story says, noting that both continued to cover the protests and arrests.

The NYPD later issued a statement noting that the pair were "inadvertently struck by police" as a group charged a police line at Broadway and Wall Street, the piece adds.
