CBS’s "The Early Show" is in discussions to hire a veteran TV interviewer, according to an interview in Newsweek with PBS fixture Charlie Rose.

"I’m having conversations with CBS because I’m a member of that family," Rose said, referring to his role as a contributor to "60 Minutes."

"I’m intrigued by the fact that they want to do it differently. They understand that their success will not lie in duplicating what’s already on morning television," Rose told Newsweek, adding that he already gets up at 5 a.m. "Although there’s a difference between 5 o’clock and 3 o’clock," he added.

Rose tells The New York Times that he wouldn’t end his PBS and Bloomberg TV program, "Charlie Rose" — "not under any circumstances." The show recently marked its 20th anniversary, the piece adds.

"The Early Show" is also talking with Gayle King, known as Oprah Winfrey’s best friend, reports the New York Post’s Page Six. According to the story, Winfrey’s "circle" will be involved.
