Accidental ‘Reply All’ Email Gets CBS in Trouble With Presidential Candidate

CBS has angered a presidential candidate’s campaign after an exec at the network accidentally included the campaign in an email, The New York Times reports.

CBS News political director John Dickerson mistakenly sent an email to Michele Bachmann’s campaign saying she would receive fewer questions in Saturday’s debate because "she’s nearly off the charts," the story reports.

The email said Bachmann was "not going to get many questions" and that he would prefer to "get someone else" for an online show on Saturday night, the story says. Bachmann’s communications director was copied in the email, the piece adds.

Bachmann’s aides are pointing to the email as an example of liberal bias by CBS News and are trying to rally supporters against the mainstream media, according to the article. The campaign is urging people to contact CBS News and Dickerson, whom the campaign described as a "well known liberal reporter."

Dickerson said his mistake was simply his honesty, the story says. "I said what was true. But instead of saying it out loud, I hit reply to all," he told the newspaper.

  1. There goes that old “liberal bias” myth again, propped up by a “straw man…”
