An actress known for her long-running role on NBC’s "Law & Order: SVU" has been the victim of theft by her business manager, reports the AP.

Joseph Cilibrasi, who managed Tamara Tunie’s finances for more than a decade, pleaded guilty to grand larceny and other charges. Tunie plays Melinda Warner, the medical examiner, on "SVU."

Cilibrasi used some of the stolen cash to finance his own entertainment projects, including enlisting a screenwriter to work on a script about Bannerman Castle on the Hudson River.

“I stole over $1.4 million from Ms. Tunie Generet by converting funds from her (business accounts) to my personal use,” Cilibrasi said. Tunie is married to singer Gregory Generet.

Cilibrasi’s confession resulted in a plea deal. He is still to be sentenced and could get from 2 1/2 to 7 1/2 years in prison. The 51-year-old Cilibrasi explained to a Manhattan judge that wrote checks to himself from Tunie’s accounts without her permission, and that he’d secretly opened a credit card account in Tunie’s name and got his own card on that account by falsely listing himself as her husband.

Tunie did not respond to calls Thursday and Cilibrasi declined to comment after court.
