As co-host Regis Philbin prepares to leave "Live! With Regis and Kelly" next week, the show has made a move that ensures some stability.
The Disney-ABC Domestic Television show signed Philbin’s co-host, Kelly Ripa, to a five-year deal to remain on the show, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
That means Ripa will become a 16-year veteran of the morning show by the time her contract ends in 2017, the story says. The search continues for a new co-host, although nothing official has been announced, the piece adds.
As reported earlier this week, one of the contenders to replace Philbin is believed to be comedian Dana Carvey, who can be seen doing his Regis impression here.
