Actor Robert De Niro will portray a notorious Wall Street figure in an upcoming HBO film, The Telegraph reports.

The two-time Oscar winner will play Bernie Madoff in an adaptation of the book "Truth and Consequences: Life Inside the Madoff Family," the story reports.

Madoff, who bilked $50 billion from investors with a Ponzi scheme, has been sentenced to 150 years in prison for his crimes. His family, including his wife, Ruth, has disassociated from him.

The book will be the basis for an HBO movie from Tribeca Productions, De Niro’s company, with the actor and his partner Jane Rosenthal on board as producers.

De Niro won Oscars for “The Godfather: Part II” (1974) and “Raging Bull” (1980). He was also nominated for Academy Awards for “Taxi Driver,” “The Deer Hunter,” “Awakenings” and “Cape Fear.”
