YouTube today unveiled the first online TV channel in an initiative that will bring a series of channels with original content to the platform, Multichannel News reports.

The new channel is ClevverTeVe, a Spanish-language entertainment news channel created in partnership with Clevver Media.

The story reports: “Google’s YouTube is pumping about $100 million into the original-programming effort, with a mélange of partners including Madonna, Deepak Chopra, Shaquille O’Neal, The Wall Street Journal and World Wrestling Entertainment. The initiative is designed to let YouTube — the most popular video destination on the Internet — be in a better position to sell video advertising inventory.”

ClevverTeVe’s initial programming lineup includes “Teve Hollywood,” “Radar Latino” and “Teve Moda,” which cover various angles on entertainment news and fashion.

Among the other channels that are in the works are ClevverNews and ClevverStyle, which are set to roll out this winter, the story reports.

  1. This is the first on youtube but definitely it won’t be the last as there is an increase in the demands of online tv nowadays.

  2. “with a mélange of partners including Madonna, Deepak Chopra, Shaquille O’Neal, The Wall Street Journal and World Wrestling Entertainment”
Wow, that’s an incredible cluster of stupid. I didn’t know google was racist, but apparently, they think all spanish speaking people are f-ing morons.
Unfortunately, they’re probably gonna make bank on this, regardless.
