A legendary singer and TV host has revealed he has cancer, saying he’s determined to beat it, the Associated Press reports.
Andy Williams, known for singing "Moon River," made the announcement to an audience at his Christmas show over the weekend, the story says.
"I do have cancer of the bladder," Williams said at the Moon River Theatre in Branson, Mo. "But that is no longer a death sentence. People with cancer are getting through this thing. They’re kicking it, and they’re winning more and more every year. And I’m going to be one of them."
Williams had missed some fall performances due to a medical condition, the story notes.
Williams, who has earned 18 gold and three platinum albums, was the host of the Emmy-winning variety TV program "The Andy Williams Show" from 1962 to 1971.
