MTV has ordered a script for a half-hour comedy from singer, actress, producer and “American Idol” judge Jennifer Lopez, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The story reports: “The project centers on Lina Molina, a recent NYU grad who, because of a dire economy and grim job prospects, is forced to return home to suburban Texas to her eccentric Mexican family.”

Grace Parra, whose credits include “Work It” and “Glory Daze,” will write the script. Also on board as exec producers are Simon Fields — Lopez’s partner in Nuyorican Productions — and manager Benny Medina.

Other projects in the works at Nuyorican include “South Beach Tow” at truTV and “Big Easy Justice” at Spike TV.
