Radio shock jock Howard Stern is in "serious negotiations" to join a television talent competition show as a judge, The Wall Street Journal reports. (Please note that the WSJ is behind a pay wall and not all readers may be able to access the story.)
The show is NBC’s "America’s Got Talent," and Stern could earn as much as $15 million per year for the role, the story says.
NBC is also considering moving the TV show from Los Angeles to New York, a move that would cost the network an additional $10 million, the article says.
Stern would join Howie Mandel and Sharon Osbourne, replacing Piers Morgan, who said this week he’s leaving after six years on “Talent” to focus on his CNN program. Stern would continue to host his Sirius XM radio program.
Judges on reality competitions usually make in the $2 million to $5 million range, but top celebrities can earn closer to $15 million, the story adds.
I really like the idea of Howard Stern joining the judges on AGT. I was happy to hear that Piers Morgan was leaving and think Howard would do a great job replacing him. Sounds like a season that I’ll actually enjoy without baby Piers around.
