The film star who was thought to be lined up for the lead role in the big-screen version of "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." has dropped out of talks to take the role, reports TheWrap.com.

Bradley Cooper was in negotiations to play Napoleon Solo, the character created by Robert Vaughn in the original 1960s NBC TV series. No reason was given for his pulling out of the talks.

Steven Soderbergh is directing the movie, and with Cooper passing, he is now looking for a new lead actor.

Also still to be cast is the role David McCallum created on the television show, Solo’s spy partner, Illya Kuryakin.

  1. Speaking of Robert Vaughn, I hope they do a movie version of his great TV show,
    Hustle.
