Justin Bieber has agreed to take a DNA test to put an end to claims by a San Diego woman who says the teenage superstar is the father of her baby, the San Jose Mercury News reports.
A spokesman for Bieber told the publication that Bieber, 17, will take the test within the next two weeks, adding that his team will “vigorously pursue all available legal remedies to protect Justin."
Meanwhile, CBS News reports that Bieber’s accuser, Mariah Yeater, 20, faces a possible investigation for having sex with an underage person. Bieber was 16 at the time of the alleged backstage encounter, and much of the speculation since the allegations arose has been about the possibility of a statutory rape charge against Yeater.
CBS News reports: “While no crime has been reported, Los Angeles Police Commander Andrew Smith told The Associated Press on Thursday that the department could investigate after Yeater filed the paternity suit against the teen heartthrob in San Diego Superior Court. ‘If it’s brought to our attention, of course we’ll look into it,’ Smith said.”
Yeater defended her accusations in a TV interview with “The Insider,” describing the encounter with Bieber that Yeater says took place backstage at a concert at the Staples Center in Los Angeles in October 2010.
The Daily Mirror quotes Yeater saying: “He immediately took a liking to me. We just got to talking and then he eventually asked me, ‘Do you mind if we can go somewhere and be alone?’"
Yeater says Bieber changed his attitude after they did find themselves alone, in “what turned out to be a bathroom.” The Mirror quotes her as saying: “His whole demeanour changed. He went from cute and gushy to more aggressive.”
The Mirror adds: “She claims they then had 30 seconds of unprotected sex, during which her now four-month-old son was conceived.”
