A project focusing on Area 51, the secret military base at the center of a number of conspiracy theories, is in development, reports Deadline.com.

"The Walking Dead" executive producer Gale Anne Hurd is behind the project, the story says. Hurd has optioned the Annie Jacobsen book "Area 51: An Uncensored History of America’s Top Secret Military Base," with the project focusing on two men who uncover secrets that the government wants to keep hidden, the story says.

The project will be written by Karl Gajdusek, who started off on Showtime’s "Dead Like Me" and recently wrote the Tom Cruise film "Oblivion," the story says.
