Carl Reiner has had a choice gig for as long as almost anyone can remember, but he’s about to hand over the reins to “new kid on the block” Kelsey Grammer, TheWrap.com reports.

The gig is hosting the Directors Guild Awards, which Reiner has done 23 times over the years, the story notes. The 64th annual DGA Awards, however, scheduled for Jan. 28, will be handled by Grammer, the veteran of “Cheers,” “Frasier” and now “Boss.” It will be Grammer’s first time hosting the event.

Guild President Taylor Hackford said in a statement: "We’re thrilled to welcome Kelsey Grammer as the host of the DGA Awards. With his acerbic wit, his mellifluous voice and his long experience in the entertainment industry, the evening promises to be just as irreverent, intimate and entertaining as always.”

The awards will be held at the Grand Ballroom at the Hollywood & Highland Center in Los Angeles.
