A comedian whose short-lived talk show was recently canceled has a new show in the works. In his first project since his late-night show was canceled by TBS, George Lopez is working on a comedy for Fox, reports TVGuide.com.

Lopez will be behind the camera on the project, which is based on the life of comedian Mark Viera, the story says. Viera will star as a working-class man who buys a building in the Bronx and has his large Latino family move in, the piece adds.

Lopez will executive produce, along with Chris Case of "Retired at 35," who is writing the script, the piece adds. Warner Bros. TV is the studio behind the project.
