ABC is losing a correspondent who has been with the network’s news division for 10 years, TVNewser.com reports.

Jim Sciutto has announced that he is making a career switch by getting out of broadcast news to become chief of staff to U.S. Ambassador to China Gary Locke.

ABC News President Ben Sherwood said in an email about Sciutto’s tenure with the network, "Jim defied government restrictions to report undercover from Myanmar, Zimbabwe and Iran. He’s been arrested by Hezbollah, had his Twitter account hijacked by Iranian intelligence, and come face-to-face with Al Qaeda operatives in Afghanistan, Lebanon and Somalia."

In 2008 Sciutto wrote a book about the Middle East and America called “Against Us: The New Face of America’s Enemies in the Muslim World,” which was published by Random House.
