Donald Trump Fires Himself

Dec 13, 2011  •  Post A Comment

Donald Trump has removed himself from a high-profile gig, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The billionaire and reality television star bowed out as moderator of a Republican presidential debate set for Dec. 27.

Publicity leading up to the event has largely focused on how many of the candidates have decided not to participate, with only two of the current crop of candidates — Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum — agreeing to take part. But Trump said that’s not the reason he’s opting out himself.

He wants to keep open the possibility of running for president, he said, according to the piece. Trump issued a statement saying: “It is very important to me that the right Republican candidate be chosen to defeat the failed and very destructive Obama administration, but if that Republican, in my opinion, is not the right candidate, I am not willing to give up my right to run as an Independent candidate. Therefore, so that there is no conflict of interest within the Republican Party, I have decided not to be the moderator of the Newsmax debate.”

  1. He is such a pompous ass. He bowed out because the majority of candidates didn’t want any part of a debate he was moderating. Can the man ever tell the truth? And he thinks if he decides to run as an independent that he would be elected – he couldn’t even manage his own budget and belongings and he thinks the people would give him a shot at the country’s? He needs to crawl back under the sludge he came out of and leave the rest us alone.

  2. I must assume you are worth somewhere in the 7 billion dollar range and are known pretty much world wide OR you think Mr. Obama is doing a terrific job. I would vote for Mr. Trump over everyone else running, but I’m sure he is smart enough to know that as an independent, he would guarantee Mr. O’s re-election. How is he actually bothering you, by the way? Jealous much?

  3. Amazing. Trump actually thinks he’s a serious candidate? Heck, according to most of the people in his own party, you can’t even take him seriously as a debate moderator.

  4. $7 Billion? Gullible much?

+ or – a few billion – depending on how you slice it. Still more than you or me and anyone else reading this. Which makes me wonder – why do people read stories about people they despise. Sad, oh so sad…
