An Emmy-nominated actress with a string of high-profile film roles has been cast in the ABC comedy pilot from writer Dan Fogelman about aliens living in a gated community, reports Deadline.com.

The actress is Jami Gertz, known for her roles in 1980s films such as "The Lost Boys,” “Less Than Zero” and “Sixteen Candles.”

Gertz, who starred in the CBS comedy "Still Standing" from 2002-2006, will play a mom who moves with her family into a New Jersey gated community, the story says. As previously reported, it turns out that the community’s residents are all aliens disguised as humans.

Several of the aliens have been cast, Deadline.com reports. Video-game voice actor Simon Templeman will play Wilt Chamberlain, the alien leader, while Toks Olagundoye will play Jackie Joyner Kersee, the matriarch of the lead alien family, the piece says.

Tim Jo, from TBS’s "Glory Daze," will portray Joe Montana, a son of the alien family, the story notes.

Gertz was nominated for an Emmy in 2001 for a guest appearance on “Ally McBeal.”

  1. Are they serious? Some times I wish these entertainment heads would read their ideas aloud. This will be cancelled after 1 episode. Plus, Jami Gertz has been trying to find a vehicle that will be successful for her – she is just not likable. I find her rather annoying.
