Former ‘N Sync Singer Uses Transgender Slur While Guest Hosting ‘Access Hollywood Live’

A former ‘N Sync singer uttered a transgender slur on "Access Hollywood Live," which he was guest hosting, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Lance Bass was talking with guest Billy Eichner, a comic, about the best places to talk to people, when Bass noted, "So you need to go to Christopher and Hudson and get those trannies on the corner there — that would be perfect,” according to the story.

"I love a tranny," Eichner responded.

Then Eichner realized their mistake — tranny is considered a slur — and noted, "We’re not supposed to call them trannies anymore. Did you see that Neil Patrick Harris called them a tranny on Twitter?" Bass replied, "Oh, no? Great, now I’m going to get in trouble." the story notes.

  1. Seriously? This is an issue? Transexuals are picky about what they are called? This particular name is some how offensive? Two gay guys talking and joking around and using this word is somehow an issue? Must be a slow news day. By the way…did anybody complain about these two using this word…anywhere? Anyone at all? Or did the writer just assume somebody was offended out there?

  2. I think I need an iPhone app to keep track of what’s PC and un-PC this week amongst my fellow LGBTs. Was it not just a few years ago that everyone was gleefully imitating Project Runway’s Christian Siriano, and calling everything in sight a “hot tranny mess”? Lighten up, kids, or there will be nothing left for us to say to each other in the bars anymore…
