One of the stars of the hit police drama “Kojak,” which aired on CBS from 1973-1978, has died, the Associated Press reports.

Veteran character actor Dan Frazer, best known for his major role as Capt. Frank McNeil, playing alongside Telly Savalas on "Kojak," died in New York at the age of 90, the story reports. According to his daughter, Susanna Frazer, Dan was at home when he died of cardiac arrest.

In the words of Susanna, Dan Frazer was a "very truthful, naturalistic actor."

In addition to "Kojak," Frazer did feature films, including "Take the Money and Run" and "Cleopatra Jones." On television he worked from the 1950s through the 2000s, appearing in episodes of "Route 66," “McHale’s Navy,” "Barney Miller" and "Law & Order,” among many other series.

Frazer was an adviser to The Workshop Theatre Company and a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences.
