A show that has been on hiatus for more than four years at MTV is returning to the network, reports the New York Daily News.

"Punk’d" will return with a sneak peek on New Year’s Eve, with former host Ashton Kutcher as executive producer, the story reports. MTV will also announce the host that night, the story says.

The show is a version of the "Candid Camera" concept, except that the people set up for pranks taped by hidden cameras are celebrities, the piece adds. The original show ran from 2003 to 2007, ending in part because it became more difficult for the show to surprise stars as its popularity grew, the piece points out.
