A cable reality show aired a note after Monday’s episode saying one of the show’s contestants had committed suicide, EW.com’s Inside TV blog reports.

Sgt. Wesley Durden died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the Jacksonville Daily News. He was a contestant on TLC’s reality show "Next Great Baker."

Durden, a veteran Army paratrooper who had two deployments in Iraq, reportedly committed suicide Oct. 24, after the show’s production wrapped.

He was eliminated from the show on Monday’s episode, and TLC told viewers of his death in a statement televised after the show that said: “TLC extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Sgt. Wesley Durden, who died Oct. 24. He will be warmly remembered by the cast and crew of ‘Next Great Baker.’”

Durden leaves behind his wife and two children, EW.com reports.
