With a former "Saturday Night Live" star hosting the show over the weekend, the venerable NBC program chalked up its best overnight ratings of the season, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Jimmy Fallon’s return to his old show as host earned a 5.3 rating in metered-market households, pushing it ahead of the Melissa McCarthy-hosted show in October, which earned a 5.2 rating, the story says.
The rating for Saturday’s Christmas-themed episode was 8% higher than the Christmas episode a year ago, the story adds.
A number of other “SNL” alums also dropped in for Saturday’s show, including Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and Tracy Morgan.
Fallon was an “SNL” cast member from 1998-2004 and now hosts NBC’s “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.”
