CBS ordered two pilots for drama series today, according to The Hollywood Reporter — one is a legal drama and the other is a modern spin on Sherlock Holmes.

“Elementary,” from CBS TV Studios, finds Holmes now living in New York, with Robert Doherty writing and executive producing, the story reports. Sarah Timberman of “A Gifted Man” and “Unforgettable” and Carl Beverly are also involved as exec producers.

The legal drama is “Baby Big Shot,” focused on a street savvy female lead character at a New York law firm. Dana Calvo of “Franklin & Bash” is writing and co-exec producing, while Kevin Falls (“West Wing”) is exec producer and showrunner, with Jamie Tarses on board as an executive producer. The series comes from Tarses’ Fanfare and Sony Pictures Television.

  1. Really, CBS? How many takes on Sherlock Holmes do we need these days? Between the Robert Downey movies and the PBS Masterpiece modern-day take on Sherlock, I think we’re covered.
