Changes are in store for Fox’s prime-time lineup after the network revealed plans to pull the plug on a show, TVLine.com reports. Fox is canceling the weekly results show for "So You Think You Can Dance," prompting what is expected to be an overhaul for the dance competition.
The move was announced by executive producer Nigel Lythgoe via Twitter, the story notes.
"Fox [has] canceled the results show so I will have to change the format of #SYTYCD,” he wrote. "At least we have [a ninth] season at the end of May."
Lythgoe added that he’s "not mad at Fox," and said that he and Fox head of alternative entertainment Mike Darnell have "some great new ideas," the story says. The show’s most recent finale attracted about 6 million total viewers and a 2.1 rating among viewers 18 to 49, a 13% decline from a year earlier, the story adds.
