Two of the creators of the hit mob movie "Goodfellas" are working with AMC to develop a TV drama version of the film, reports Deadline.com.

Writer Nicholas Pileggi and producer Irwin Winkler are actively involved with the adaptation. Pileggi, who also wrote the book on which the TV show "Wiseguy" was based, is collaborating with Jorge Zamacona on the script. Zamacona was part of the TV cop series "Homicide: Life on the Street."

The "Goodfellas" project has been in the works for a while, as it was first reported in 2010. The acclaimed 1990 film, directed by Martin Scorsese, starred Robert De Niro, Ray Liotta and Joe Pesci, and told the story of the Mafia from 1955-1980.
