After the hit CBS sitcom "How I Met Your Mother" reveals the identity of the mother in the show’s title, the program might live on through a spinoff, reports TVLine.com.

The idea has come up, said executive producer Carter Bays, the piece notes.

“We’ve had conversations about rewinding back to 2005 and doing a series called ‘How I Met Your Father,’” said executive producer Craig Thomas. “From the perspective of what was happening with the mother all those years. Occasionally, she’ll stumble through McLaren’s and no one will see her.”

Bays added another idea: “One way to go is to finish the [mother] story at the end of Season 8, and then Season 9 is, ‘Oh, by the way kids, I left some stuff out …,’” Bays said, according to the piece. “And then it’s just 24 little stories that took place over the course of the series here and there. Like, ‘Here’s something funny that happened in 2006.’”

  1. I like the idea of doing a series from the mom’s POV. Her group of friends, here occasional run ins with the HIMYM gang/environment.

  2. That is a great idea which could freshen up an aging show.
