Katy Perry was the big winner at the People’s Choice Awards on Wednesday night, with honors in five categories, including an award for a guest spot on "How I Met Your Mother," reports the Associated Press.

Perry wasn’t on hand to receive the awards, however. As previously reported, she backed out of her appearance on the CBS telecast via Twitter. Perry and comedian Russell Brand are going through a divorce after getting married 14 months ago.

Among the TV winners were "How I Met Your Mother" for TV comedy; "2 Broke Girls" for new TV comedy; Neil Patrick Harris for TV comedy actor; Nathan Fillion for TV drama actor; and "Supernatural" for TV drama and sci-fi fantasy show. "Person of Interest" won for new TV drama while "Pretty Little Liars" won for cable TV drama and "Hot in Cleveland" won for cable TV comedy.

  1. Any ideas why they failed to announce the Favorite TV Drama on air? To save time for shameless product placement, perhaps?

  2. Amy: who cares? If you watch garbage like the PCA show, you should expect shameless plugs to substitute for actual substance.

  3. Point taken.
