Last Summer’s Top New Cable Series in Key Female Demos Returns to Big Numbers

Last summer’s No. 1 new cable series in key female demos had its season premiere Tuesday and picked up where it left off, ranking as the day’s top scripted cable show in several demos, ABC Family reports.

The show is the network’s “Switched at Birth,” which was Tuesday’s No. 1 scripted cable show in women 18-34 (611,000 viewers/1.8 rating), women 18-49 (1.0 million/1.6 rating) and females 12-34 (1.2 million/2.6 rating). It was also television’s No. 1 telecast for the entire day in female teens (570,000/4.9 rating).

“Switched at Birth” improved its time period by triple-digit percentages year to year across all demos, including by 230% in total viewers (2.7 million vs. 818,000), by 259% in women 18-34 (611,000 vs. 170,000), by 367% in women 18-49 (1.0 million vs. 214,000) and by 363% in females 12-34 (1.2 million vs. 259,000).

In its time period, “Switched at Birth” was the top show on TV in females 12-34 and female teens, the network reported.
