After rumors circulated surrounding the future of one of the key actors on NBC’s “30 Rock,” the network revealed Friday during an appearance before the Television Critics Association that Alec Baldwin is committed to staying with the show, Deadline.com reports.

Much of the talk about Baldwin has focused on the possibility that he would go into politics, specifically a run for mayor of New York. But NBC Chairman Bob Greenblatt announced at TCA that Baldwin has "quietly re-upped" to remain with "30 Rock" if the show is picked up by the network for another year, the story reports.

Greenblatt would not commit to the network keeping the Emmy-winning sitcom on the air for a seventh season, saying that decision will be made later this year.

"30 Rock" will launch season six next Thursday night on NBC.
